IMPRISONMENT RATES

At 30 June 2018, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander age standardised imprisonment rate (prisoners per 100,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population; see Explanatory Notes paragraphs 53-71):
  • increased in all jurisdictions except Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania since 2017.
  • was highest in Western Australia (3717), followed by the Northern Territory (2579). (Table 18)
