- People using or dealing drugs was the issue most likely to be considered a large problem, despite it being the least commonly perceived social disorder issue.
- Relative to the other social disorder issues, persons identifying people using or dealing drugs as an issue were significantly less likely to be influenced by personal experience or observation, and significantly more likely to be influenced by the experiences of someone known to them and information from the media.
- Australians aged 65 years and over were the least likely to perceive people using or dealing drugs as a problem, whereas young adults aged 18-24 were the most likely.
- Respondents residing outside of major cities, particularly in remote areas, were significantly more likely than respondents residing in major cities to perceive people using or dealing drugs as an issue in their local area.
- Persons experiencing personal victimisation or living in a household affected by household crime were significantly more likely to perceive people using or dealing drugs as an issue and consider it to be a large problem.
