The volume of wine available for consumption decreased by 0.8%, from 539.1 million litres in 2009-10 to 534.8 million litres in 2010-11. This was the first decrease since 1994-95. Other wines (which comprise sparkling, carbonated, dessert wine, sherry and vermouth as well as other wines not elsewhere included) accounted for much of this decrease. Apparent consumption of red wine decreased slightly while white wine recorded a slight increase.
