This article provides a brief overview of the mental health of young people aged 16-24 years. It includes information about young people who had a mental disorder in the 12 months prior to interview, the types of mental disorder as well as the severity of the disorder. The demographic characteristics of these young people are also explored together with their use of mental health services. This article primarily uses data from the 2007 ABS National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing.
