CAPITAL EXPENDITURE

Net capital expenditure by the water supply, sewerage and drainage services industry in 2006-07 was $4.1b, 35% higher than in 2005-06, and amounted to 72% of its industry value added. This reflected increased investment in infrastructure as a response to addressing water shortages.
