Instructs and guides individuals and groups in outdoor adventure activity such as bicycle touring, bushwalking, canoeing, caving, cross country skiing, horse trekking, rafting, rock climbing and sailing.
Skill Level:
The entry requirement for this occupation is an AQF Certificate II or higher qualification or at least 1 years relevant experience.
Tasks Include:
- plans and prepares for individual and group participation in outdoor adventure experiences
- demonstrates and teaches body movements and skills used
- plans and supervises outdoor activity skill practice sessions
- supervises and controls individuals and groups involved in outdoor adventure journeys
- demonstrates the use of equipment required for participation
- provides advice on safety measures and risk minimisation strategies for outdoor adventure activities
- ensures risk minimisation procedures are practiced
- responds to emergencies during adventure activities by providing first aid assistance and organises means of evacuation
- may provide advice on such matters as equipment selection and appropriateness of particular destinations or activities
