At the time of the 2001 National Health Survey, short sightedness and long sightedness were the most common long term conditions in Tasmania, afflicting 21.1% and 20.7% of people respectively.
Mental and behavioural problems affected 12.5% of people living in the Greater Hobart area, but only 8.5% of people living in the rest of the state.
