SEPTEMBER KEY POINTS


ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
  • In original terms, September 2013 imports on an international merchandise trade basis were $21,267m, a decrease of $432m (2%) on the revised August 2013 merchandise imports of $21,699m.


PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
  • Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms fell $997m (4%) between August and September 2013.
  • In seasonally adjusted terms, goods debits fell $319m (1%) between August and September 2013 to $22,213m. Consumption goods fell $213m (3%), driven by non–industrial transport equipment, down $166m (9%). Capital goods fell $174m (3%) and non–monetary gold fell $148m (29%). Intermediate and other merchandise goods rose $216m (2%).


REVISIONS
  • Revisions have been made to the previous six months to incorporate the latest administrative data relating to international merchandise trade.
  • The preliminary balance of payments debits estimates incorporate the latest available data.
