2005-06 AGRICULTURAL CENSUS - RELEASE OF SMALL AREA VALUE DATA
The five-yearly Agricultural Census was conducted in 2006. It included all businesses on the Australian Business Register (ABR) involved in agricultural production who recorded an estimated value of agricultural operations (EVAO), or equivalent, of $5,000 or greater per year.

The main objective of the Agricultural Census was to provide benchmark information on the agriculture sector for small geographic areas. The production data are also used to create the series Value of Agricultural Commodities Produced (VACP).

On 5 September 2008, Agricultural Commodities: Small Area Data, Australia (cat. no. 7125.0) was re-issued with additional spreadsheets containing estimates of VACP by small area. These 'csv' formatted data will later be supported by easier to use Excel workbooks. This publication can be downloaded for free from the ABS website.

This information is also available as a CD-ROM which contains Excel files of all data in a convenient and accessible form. The CD-ROM costs $360.00 and can be ordered by contacting Linda Falzari.

As well, the ABS is now able to examine user defined data requests. The ability of ABS to meet these requests is dependent on ABS confidentiality constraints, the size and location of the regions and the type of data requested.

A list of all upcoming publications is available on the Agriculture Theme page. For data requests or other queries relating to ABS Agricultural statistics contact:
