CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE

Both the Import Price Index and the Export Price Index have been reweighted in the September quarter 2010. This is in line with the ABS policy of reweighting these indexes annually in the September quarter, as explained in paragraphs 8-10 of the Explanatory Notes. The new weighting patterns are provided as an Appendix to this issue. As a consequence of the annual reweighting, the points contribution data for June quarter 2010 shown in Tables 2, 8 and 17 differ from that published in the previous issue of this publication.

This issue incorporates revisions to a number of series in the Import Price Index back to September quarter 2009. These revisions are a result of a correction to an error in the underlying weights assigned in the 2009 annual reweight of the Import Price Index. At the All groups level this results in a 0.1% revision to June quarter 2010. The revised series are highlighted with revision annotations in the publication and with i-notes on the ABS website. The revised time series spreadsheets and data cubes for the September quarter 2009, December quarter 2009, March quarter 2010 and June quarter 2010 issues are also included in this release and can be downloaded from the ABS website <https://www.abs.gov.au>.
