(c) Deaths per 1,000 standard population. Standardised death rates use the age distribution of total persons in the Australian population at 30 June 2001 as the standard population.
(d) Life expectancy has been calculated using data for the three years ending in the year in the table heading.
(e) Data are for New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory combined, based on state or territory of usual residence. Victoria, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory are excluded due to the small numbers of registered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander deaths.
(f) Deaths per 1,000 estimated resident population for 2002 and projected population for 2011 and 2012.
(g) Infant deaths per 1,000 live births. These have been calculated using New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory averaged data for three years ending in the year in the table heading.
