Australia embraces the eCensus

The interest in the eCensus has continued throughout today, with thousands of people logging on and submitting their Census forms online.

As at 3pm this afternoon, more than 563,000 eCensus forms had been submitted. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) expects a further rush of people completing their forms online tonight.

Thousands of eCensus users have also provided overwhelmingly positive feedback on the 2006 Census of Population and Housing's online option.

While there is still time for people to complete a form, either online or on the paper form, the ABS is asking people to help their Census Collector by filling out their Census as soon as possible.

The vast majority of Australians have completed their Census form. Those people who still do not have a form can request a form by email at census.forms@abs.gov.au, or by calling the Census Inquiry Service on 1300 362 883, and providing the ABS with a relevant residential address.
