    First number represents the broad Subject groupSecond number represents the Subject sub-groupThird & Fourth numbers are internal to ABSFifth number after the dot represents the State or TerritoryOther numbers after this indicate the media and format

    Example:

    Catalogue Number: 3234.3 refers to the publication called 'Population for Queensland'.

      The first number - 3 refers to the subject Demography
      The second number - 2 to the subject sub-group Population trends and estimates
      The third and the fourth numbers are internally allocated for use by the ABS.
      The fifth number after the dot - 3 represents the Australian State or Territory, in this example to Queensland
