Wheat growing in South Australia is dependent on receiving adequate rainfall in the planting and growing periods from April to November. In 2004-05, production was 2.6 million tonnes.

In 2004-05, 38% of all wheat produced in South Australia came from the Eyre Statistical Division (987,000 tonnes) and 32% came from the Yorke and Lower North Statistical Division (848,000 tonnes).
