REASONS FOR NOT HAVING A WEB PRESENCE
Businesses with 20-199 persons employed were the least likely to report that they had no need for a web presence (54%), but had the greatest propensity to report lack of customer demand (30%) and set up costs too high (20%) as reasons for not having a web presence. Lack of technical expertise as a reason for not having a web presence was most likely to be reported by businesses with 5-19 persons employed and businesses with 20-199 persons employed (both 28%). Manufacturing had the highest proportion of businesses that reported lack of technical expertise (39%) while Wholesale trade had the highest proportion of businesses that reported lack of customer demand (27%) and set up costs too high (32%), Businesses within Retail trade were most likely to report ongoing maintenance and updating costs too high (28%) as reasons for not having a web presence.
