In 1999-2000 the gross value of vegetables fell by almost 13% to $136m. This was due mainly to falls in the gross values of potatoes and onions, down by 27% and 24%, respectively. The fall in gross value for onions was driven by a price reduction, since production was up, but for potatoes the fall was driven by a reduction in both price and quantity of production.
