Purpose
To provide information on the rail industry.
Description
The information is based on the analysis of annual reports of rail operators and a survey of member organisations. Data are collected by mail questionnaire, telephone interview and personal interview from 117 member organisations.

- Employee numbers;
- Net tonne kilometres;
- Type of commodities;
- Investments; and
- Financial data (e.g. turnover).
Geographic Coverage
Australia and New Zealand.
Frequency of Data Availability
Data are available annually.

Some data are available from 1987.
