Description The survey is conducted by the Hunter Valley Research Foundation for NRMA. It is concerned with community attitudes towards air quality and the motor vehicle and the community's responses to potential air quality and traffic congestion solutions. The population for the survey is defined as residents of Greater Sydney Region (GSR) who are 18 years or older and regularly drive a motor vehicle. The 1997 survey involved telephone interviews to 1,600 respondents, randomly selected from the population. All telephone interviewing was conducted using coded answers throughout the questionnaire, with provision for open-ended questions where relevant. Data Detail Geographic Coverage The GSR is defined as those urban areas incorporating Newcastle/Lake Macquarie, Wyong/Gosford, Sydney and Wollongong/Illawarra. Frequency of Data Availability The survey is conducted annually. Historical Data The Clean Air 2000 Monitor was first undertaken in 1995 as benchmark survey and then as an annual monitor of public attitudes. The 1995 to 1997 results are comparable although new questions were added in both the 1996 and 1997 surveys.
