    Purpose

    Description
The survey is conducted by the Hunter Valley Research Foundation for NRMA. It is concerned with community attitudes towards air quality and the motor vehicle and the community's responses to potential air quality and traffic congestion solutions.

The population for the survey is defined as residents of Greater Sydney Region (GSR) who are 18 years or older and regularly drive a motor vehicle. The 1997 survey involved telephone interviews to 1,600 respondents, randomly selected from the population. All telephone interviewing was conducted using coded answers throughout the questionnaire, with provision for open-ended questions where relevant.
