Wheat is grown predominantly west of the Great Dividing Range, extending along the centre of NSW from the Northern Statistical Division down to the Murray Statistical Division.

In 2003-04, production was 7.3 million tonnes.

In 2003-04, 21% of all wheat produced in NSW came from the North Western Statistical Division (1,523,200 tonnes). This was followed by the Northern Statistical Division with 1,493,200 tonnes.
