At 30 June 2005, industry value added per person employed in the Manufacturing industry was $104,700, an increase of $2,100 (2.0%) on the 30 June 2004 figure of $102,600. Over the same period, the largest increase in percentage terms in industry value added per person employed was in the Metal product manufacturing subdivision which increased by $48,800 (42.4%) from $115,000 to $163,800.
In 2004-05 the subdivision with the largest industry value added per person is Metal product manufacturing with $163,800. In contrast, the smallest defined subdivision was Textile, clothing, footwear & leather manufacturing which has an industry value added per person of only $38,100. This shows that Textile, clothing, footwear & leather manufacturing is far more labour intensive, relative to the value added, than Wood & paper product manufacturing.
