WHAT IS THE GRADUATE PROGRAM?
As an ABS Graduate, you will join a world leader in its field. The ABS provides a range of information to governments, researchers and the community. This information is used to understand economic, social, labour and other issues that are relevant to Australian Society, and to assess how our society is changing over time.
Our Program offers:
The opportunity to work for an organisation with an international reputation as one of the best statistical offices in the world.
Diverse career opportunities in statistical and non-statistical fields.
The ABS Graduate Development Program provides you with formal and informal learning opportunities including:
- 10 month targeted graduate training program;
- work rotations (subject to area placed);
- buddy/mentor program;
- social and networking opportunities.
On-the-job learning including projects, workshops, guest speakers and work specific events, and other learning and development activities designed to meet your individual needs.
You may have the opportunity to complete a number of rotations. Rotations will enable you to gain an appreciation and understanding of the role of your work area in assisting the ABS to achieve its mission.
Career paths beyond the Graduate Program through merit-based recruitment processes.
An active in-house social club which organises a weekly social event, trivia nights, fundraising events, an annual formal ball and an International sporting carnival held every two years.
We offer all grads a two-day induction in the Canberra office, with a follow up in Canberra at six months and 10 months / graduation.
GRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES
When applying for the ABS Graduate Development Program, your application may be considered for the following areas:
On your application form, you will be asked to indicate two areas of interest from the list above. However, depending on your skills and capabilities you may also be considered for areas outside your preferences.
Due to the majority of graduate positions being offered in Central Office in Canberra, you will be asked on your application form if you would consider positions outside of your home state.
