First results from 2001 Census to be released June 17 - TAS
The first results from the 2001 Census, will officially be released back to the Tasmanian community community next week on Monday, June 17, 2002 by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
Who: The Tasmanian Regional Director Steve Matheson
What: To celebrate the national launch of the first results from the 2001 Census of Population and Housing
When: Monday 17 June, 2002, at 10:30am (EST)
Where: Sullivan's, Hotel Grand Chancellor, 1 Davey St, Hobart
Why: The 2001 Census of Population and Housing was held on Tuesday 7 August last year and is a comprehensive snapshot of Australia. It provides a primary source of information used by a wide range of government and non-government organisations alike in planning for the future.
Vision opportunities: Speeches and local interview prospects. File footage showing data processing, census form destruction and census collectors at work will be distributed to media this week. High resolution images will be made available through AAP on the day.
Media information: A comprehensive information kit including the publication Selected Social and Housing Characteristics, Australia (cat. no. 2015.0) will be available at the launch.
