Wheat is grown mainly in the western and north western areas of Victoria, with the greatest production from the Mallee and Wimmera Statistical Divisions (SDs). In 2003-04, production was 3.1 million tonnes.

In 2003-04, 39% of all wheat produced in Victoria came from the Mallee SD (1.2 million tonnes). This was followed by the Wimmera SD, with 31% (964,200 tonnes).
