In Hobart between the June quarter 2005 and the June quarter 2006, the average retail price of petrol increased by 23.0% from $1.14 to $1.40 per litre. The average price of bananas also rose significantly due to the effects of Cyclone Larry in Queensland. The average retail price of bananas increased by 245.1% from $2.37 to $8.18 per kg.
Amongst other items whose average price increased between the June quarter 2005 and the June quarter 2006 were beef, lamb and pork, whilst the prices for frozen chicken and bacon rashers fell in the same period.
