  • State final demand (trend chain volume measures) in Western Australia increased for the third consecutive quarter in December 2009 (up 1.4%), matching domestic final demand growth at the national level.
  • Contributing to this increase was strong quarterly growth in public gross fixed capital formation (4.8% in trend and 15.7% in seasonally adjusted terms).
  • Across the nation, only the Northern Territory recorded a fall in the December quarter (down 0.4%), while growth was strongest for the Australian Capital Territory (2.5%) and Victoria (1.8%).

  • State Final Demand (in chain volume measures) has increased every quarter since December 2000. In the last nine years, the strongest quarterly growth was recorded in December 2006 and June 2007 (both 3.4%).
