WHEAT GRAIN COMMITTED

In April 2011, wheat grain committed for domestic use or export fell to 6.7 million tonnes, a 2% decrease from March 2011, but an increase of 43% from April 2010.

Of the total wheat grain committed, 5.5 million tonnes were contracted for export. In April 2011, all states reported decreased export commitments from March 2011, except Queensland and Western Australia with increases of 70 thousand tonnes and 78 thousand tonnes respectively.

Compared to March 2011, wheat grain committed for domestic use decreased by 5% to 1.3 million tonnes in April 2011. This is slightly more than the comparative total of 1.2 million tonnes in April 2010.
