ANALYSIS - TOTAL RETAIL TOTAL RETAIL - QUARTERLY In volume terms, the seasonally adjusted estimate for the June quarter 2012 rose 1.4% following a rise of 1.4% in the March quarter 2012 and a rise of 0.7% in the December quarter 2011. In the June quarter 2012, the seasonally adjusted estimate rose in volume terms for Other retailing (2.7%), Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food retailing (2.5%), Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (2.9%), Department stores (2.7%), Food retailing (0.3%) and Household goods retailing (0.6%). The Implicit Price Deflator for Australian turnover rose 0.1% in seasonally adjusted terms in the June quarter 2012. TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE The following states and territories rose in trend terms in June 2012: New South Wales (0.8%), Queensland (0.7%), Western Australia (0.8%), Victoria (0.1%), South Australia (0.3%), the Northern Territory (1.1%) and the Australian Capital Territory (0.2%). Tasmania (-0.1%) fell in trend terms in June 2012. The following states and territories rose in seasonally adjusted terms in June 2012: New South Wales (1.0%), Queensland (1.2%), Victoria (0.9%), Western Australia (1.0%), South Australia (0.7%), the Northern Territory (2.8%),Tasmania (1.0%) and the Australian Capital Territory (0.9%). In the June quarter 2012, the seasonally adjusted estimate rose in volume terms in the following states: New South Wales (2.6%), Queensland (1.6%), Western Australia (2.2%), South Australia (0.7%) and the Northern Territory (1.7%). The Australian Capital Territory (0.0%) was relatively unchanged. Victoria (-0.2%) and Tasmania (-0.6%) fell in volume terms in the June quarter 2012.
