(a) For ISPs with more than 1,000 subscribers. Mobile wireless internet connections continued to be the fastest growing internet technology in terms of actual subscriber numbers, increasing by 14.7% since June 2011, and was again the most prevalent internet technology in Australia. Although Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) connections grew by 1.3% to 4.6 million in the six months ending December 2011, the percentage share of DSL continued to decline, accounting for 39% of access connections. In December 2011, the number of satellite connections decreased by 6.0% compared to June 2011 to 100,000 subscribers. While fibre subscriber numbers were still relatively small (37,000), the number increased by 18.3% in the same period.
