  • The gross value of livestock slaughtering and other disposals remained steady at $13.8 billion.
  • The gross value of sheep and lambs remained steady at $2.9 billion. While the number of sheep and lambs slaughtered rose by 2%, this was countered by a 2% fall in average prices.
  • The gross value of cattle and calves also remained steady nationally at $7.8 billion. While cows and heifers were retained for rebuilding herds, this was offset by an increase in the number of bullocks and steers slaughtered.
  • The gross value of pigs remained relatively steady at $934 million, with a small increase in slaughter numbers offset by a fall in average prices.
  • The gross value of poultry remained steady at $2.1 billion.
