Contents + New South Wales Children's Participation in Cultural and Leisure Activities Cultural Funding by Government Cultural Participation + Employment in Culture + Victoria + Queensland + South Australia + Western Australia + Tasmania + Northern Territory + Australian Capital Territory History of Changes	CULTURAL FUNDING BY GOVERNMENT This report presents an overview of expenditure on cultural activities funded by the New South Wales Government. The data used in this report are available in the data cube for New South Wales attached to Cultural Funding by Government, Australia, 2011-12 (cat. no. 4183.0) on the ABS website. In 2011-12, the estimate of cultural expenditure funded by the New South Wales Government was $817.6m or 25% of the total cultural expenditure funded by state and territory governments. This was an increase of 7% from $764.6m in 2010-11. Recurrent expenses accounted for 76% of New South Wales Government cultural expenditure. The estimate of per person expenditure by the New South Wales Government was $112.60. Total cultural expenditure funded by the New South Wales Government has fluctuated over the last five years with the highest estimate of $821.6m recorded in 2009-10. The estimate of expenditure in 2011-12 was 15% above the estimate in 2007-08 ($817.6m and $711.6m respectively). GOVERNMENT CULTURAL EXPENDITURE, NSW In 2011-12, the estimate of expenditure of New South Wales Government funds on Heritage activities fell 4% to $614.0m. This fall was largely attributable to decreases in expenditure on Environmental heritage and Archives of $60.4m and $7.4m respectively. However, the overall decrease was partially offset by an increase of $33.5m in expenditure in Other museums and cultural heritage. GOVERNMENT HERITAGE EXPENDITURE, NSW In 2011-12, the estimate of expenditure of New South Wales Government funds for Arts activities increased by 63% to $203.6m. The categories driving this increase were Performing arts venues, Film and video production and distribution and Other arts with expenditure increases of 114% ($54.7m), 105% ($9.2m) and 49% ($8.7m), respectively.
