(a) Deaths due to ischaemic heart disease are defined as ICD-10 codes I20-I25.
(b) Age standardised death rates enable the comparison of death rates between populations with different age structures by relating them to a standard population. The current ABS standard population is all persons in the Australian population at 30 June 2001. Standardised death rates (SDRs) are expressed per 100,000 persons.
(c) All causes of death data from 2006 onward are subject to a revision process - once data for a reference year are 'final', they are no longer revised. Affected data in this table are: 2006-2009 (final), 2010 (revised), and 2011 (preliminary). See Causes of Death Revisions, 2006 in ABS Causes of Death, Australia, 2010 (cat. no. 3303.0). See also Explanatory Notes 29-33 and Technical Note Causes of Death Revisions 2009 and 2010 in ABS Causes of Death, Australia, 2011 (cat. no.3303.0).
