GFS are based on financial information provided in, or underlying, the published accounting statements and reports of government departments and authorities, plus further dissections where required, mainly supplied by the Department of Treasury and Finance. From 2000-01, Tasmanian local government councils data are collected and provided to the ABS by the Local Government Division (LGD) of the Department of Premier and Cabinet as part of the local government Key Performance Indicators (KPI) data collection. Prior to 2000-01, data were collected directly from councils. From time to time, as more information becomes available, the statistics may be revised since previous releases, and users of the statistics should take care that the statistics are the latest available.
