From 2001 to 2003, the number of road accident fatalities in Tasmania decreased by 32.8% from 61 to 41. In 2003, some 39.0% of the state's fatalities occurred in the Mersey-Lyell Region, followed by the Greater Hobart-Southern Region (36.6%) and Northern Region (24.4%) ROAD-USER FATALITIES AND INJURIES, Tasmanian regions(a)
