How do I access Census data? Census Data for 1996, 2001 and 2006 can be accessed via a range of Census online products available from the Census Data Online page. Some data from earlier Censuses is available as a historical release.
2011 Census - Implementation of the new Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) Just released! The ASGS is being introduced from 1 July 2011 and data from the 2011 Census of Population and Housing will be released on geographic areas defined by the ASGS. Read about the implementation plans in the publication, Discussion Paper: Census of Population and Housing - ABS Views on 2011 Census Output Geography (cat. no. 2911.0.55.002) You are invited to comment on the proposed range of products that will be available for the various levels of the new standard. We also invite you to comment on the proposed time series data that will be available to assist with the transition to the ASGS. Feedback can be provided by emailing census.software@abs.gov.au by Thursday 1 April 2010.
