As at 1 June 2001, the Mersey-Lyell Region of Tasmania had the highest rates of people receiving the Age Pension, Newstart Allowance, Disability Support Pension and Family Tax Benefit in the state. The Greater Hobart-Southern Region had the highest proportion of Youth Allowance recipients in the state.
