The ABS produces labour statistics on the level of employment, unemployment, earnings, labour costs, overtime, job vacancies and industrial disputes. These statistics can provide us with insights into the economy and measure the effectiveness of government policy changes. Labour statistics can also provide an insight into the way in which the Australian community lives and works, in particular, in relation to the numbers of hours worked, job mobility and retirement.
