Voluntary Work, Survey of Persons aged 18 years and over in all private Australian households are included in the 2000 survey. Excluded from the survey are households in remote and sparsely settled parts of Australia. The exclusion of persons in these households has an insignificant effect on estimates produced for individual s The 1995 survey covered persons of working age (15 years and over) who are civilians, usually resident in Australia but excluded from the survey are members of the permanent defence forces, certain diplomatic personnel of overseas governments, overseas residents in Australia, and members of non-Australian defence forces (and their dependants) stationed in Australia. METHOD OF COLLECTION In 1995 the Survey of Voluntary Work was conducted as supplementary to the Labour Force Survey. The 2000 Survey of Voluntary Work was conducted through the Population Survey Monitor (PSM). TIMING OF COLLECTION Reference Period Calendar Year. Frequency of Collection Five yearly. It is planned for the next Survey of Voluntary Work to be collected as part of the 2006 General Social Survey. Historical Data The previous Survey of Voluntary Work was conducted in June 1995 as a supplementary topic to the Monthly Population Survey (MPS) whereas the 2000 survey was conducted on the PSM. The two survey methodologies differ and results from the 1995 survey have been recalculated to achieve greater comparability between the two surveys.
