Now compared to Then: 2001 YEAR BOOK AUSTRALIA is essential for your
Centenary of Federation and Australia Day coverage

Since shortly after federation,YEAR BOOK AUSTRALIA, the Australian Bureau of Statistics' "flagship" publication, has provided a comprehensive and detailed annual statistical review of various aspects of the economy and social conditions in Australia.

The 2001 edition, the 83rd edition of the book, will be published and officially launched on 25 January -- Australia Day eve. The content of the book, including Centenary articles and mini features listed on the next page of this alert, constitutes a valuable resource for media wishing to develop special Australia Day coverage in this Centenary of Federation year.

To facilitate timely access by the media to the material, 2001 YEAR BOOK AUSTRALIA will be made available to media BY REQUEST under an arrangement whereby the content of the book is strictly embargoed until 1130 hours on 25th January.

Media who wish to receive an embargoed copy of the 2001 YEAR BOOK AUSTRALIA are invited to indicate their interest as soon as possible. It is anticipated that both hard copies and CD-ROM versions of the book will be available from 18 January. The CD-ROM version includes, in addition to the 2001 Year Book, a selection of the special Year Book articles published in the series throughout the years.
