Aboriginal and torres strait islander health and welfare report to be launched tomorrow

Australian of the Year and distinguished medical researcher Professor Fiona Stanley AC will launch The Health and Welfare of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples (cat. no. 4704.0) tomorrow at the Mossenson Gallery of Authentic Aboriginal Art in Perth.

This Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) publication provides a comprehensive overview, largely at the national level, of the health and welfare of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The publication includes information on mortality, ill health, risk factors, access to and use of services and recent developments in health and welfare information. Selected historical data is included.

A media release will be widely distributed at 11.30am (AEST) on August 29.

The publication will be boxed at the Canberra Press Gallery by request only.
