Error in balance of payments and international investment position published on June 1

This media alert was issued on June 1, 2004 and placed on the ABS web site on June 2

Table 33 of the March Quarter 2004 issue of Balance of Payments and International Investment Position (cat. no. 5302.0), issued at 11.30am today (June 1) by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, contains incorrect estimates of the various ratios of balance of payments and international investment position aggregates to GDP.

The error was caused by the use of incorrect current price measures of GDP.

Attached is a revised version of Table 33 with the corrected estimates.
