TREND ESTIMATES

  • From November 2003 to November 2004 the number of public sector employees increased by 51,500 (3.4%) to 1,582,900.
  • In the same period the number of employees increased in state government by 3.8%, in local government by 3.5% and in Commonwealth government by 1.4%.
