TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for lamb slaughterings increased for the fourth consecutive month to 1.7 million. This was the highest figure recorded since records began in 1979.
  • The trend estimate for sheep slaughterings declined for the fourth consecutive month to 1.1 million.
  • The trend estimate for pig slaughterings increased for the seventh consecutive month, to 451,000. This was the highest figure since December 2005.
  • The trend estimate for beef production fell after increases in the previous nine consecutive months, to 191,000 tonnes.
