OCTOBER KEY POINTS


ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
  • In original terms, October 2014 imports on an international merchandise trade basis were $22,446m, a decrease of $146m (1%) on the revised September 2014 merchandise imports of $22,592m.


PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
  • Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms rose $388m (2%) between September and October 2014.
  • In seasonally adjusted terms, goods debits fell $543m (2%) between September and October 2014 to $22,382m. Intermediate and other merchandise goods fell $372m (4%), consumption goods fell $95m (1%), capital goods fell $43m (1%) and non–monetary gold fell $34m (9%).


REVISIONS
  • Revisions have been made to the previous six months to incorporate the latest administrative data relating to international merchandise trade.
  • The preliminary balance of payments debits estimates incorporate the latest available data.
