CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE

The weights used to compile the WPI have been updated in the December quarter 2014 using expenditure on wages and salaries from the 2014 Survey of Employee Earnings and Hours. The weighting data are price updated to represent current period values. Further information can be found in paragraphs 23-28 of the Explanatory Notes.

Medibank Private Limited was privatised on 25 November 2014. For the purposes of ABS statistics this change from public sector to private sector is effective from the December quarter 2014.

In this issue, selected Time Series Spreadsheets (Tables 1 to 9b) include quarterly and annual percentage change for the first time. These tables are available from the Downloads tab on the ABS website. The series identifiers for existing indexes have not changed.
