JULY KEY POINTS

TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for cattle slaughterings fell for the fourth consecutive month, to 640,000. This was the lowest figure recorded since December 2005.
  • The trend estimate for sheep slaughterings fell for the fourth consecutive month, to 991,000. This was the lowest figure recorded since November 2005.
  • The trend estimate for beef production fell for the fourth consecutive month, to 176,000 tonnes. This was the lowest figure recorded since January 2006.
  • The trend estimate for mutton production fell for the fourth consecutive month, to 20,500 tonnes. This was the lowest figure recorded since November 2005.
