SEPTEMBER KEY POINTS

SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during September 2015 (624,600 movements) increased 0.7%, compared with August 2015 (620,500 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.6% in July 2015 and 0.7% in August 2015. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 7.8% higher than in September 2014.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During September 2015, short-term visitor arrivals (637,100 movements) increased 2.4% compared with August 2015 (621,900 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.1% in July 2015 and 2.0% in August 2015.
  • Original estimates: There were 571,500 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in September 2015.


SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during September 2015 (780,200 movements) changed little compared with August 2015 (780,400 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.1% in both July 2015 and August 2015. The current trend estimate for departures is 3.0% higher than in September 2014.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During September 2015, short-term resident departures (775,300 movements) decreased 0.9% compared with August 2015 (782,600 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.9% in July 2015 and a monthly decrease of 0.7% in August 2015.
  • Original estimates: There were 921,100 short-term resident departures from Australia in September 2015.
