JUNE KEY POINTS

TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for sheep slaughterings rose for the eighth consecutive month, to 1.0 million. This was the highest figure recorded since June 2005.
  • The trend estimate for lamb slaughterings rose for the sixth consecutive month, to 1.6 million. This was the highest figure recorded since September 2000.
  • The trend estimate for mutton production rose for the eighth consecutive month, to 21,000 tonnes. This was the highest figure recorded since June 2005.
  • The trend estimate for lamb production rose for the sixth consecutive month, to 33,000 tonnes. This was the highest figure recorded since August 2000.
