FEBRUARY KEY POINTS


ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
  • In original terms, the February 2010 merchandise imports were $15,293m, a decrease of $88m (1%) on the revised January 2010 merchandise imports of $15,381m.


PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
  • Preliminary analysis shows that goods imports (debits) on a balance of payments basis increased by $386m (2%) in seasonally adjusted terms from $16,671m in January 2010 to $17,057m in February 2010. Consumption goods rose $263m (5%) with the non-industrial transport equipment component up $210m (16%), non-monetary gold rose $116m (33%) and capital goods rose $65m (2%) while intermediate and other merchandise goods fell $57m (1%).
