SUMMARY

  • In 2012-13 the gross value of total Australian agricultural production was $48.0 billion, an increase of 3% from 2011-12.
  • The main driver behind this increase was a 10% increase in the value of crops to $28.0 billion, which was in turn driven by an increase in grain prices.
  • Total growth was moderated by a decrease in both livestock slaughterings and disposals, and livestock products, which saw a decrease of 4% and 7% respectively.
