MARCH KEY POINTS

SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during March 2015 (606,000 movements) increased 1.0% compared with February 2015 (600,200 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.9% in January 2015 and 1.0% in February 2015. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 6.7% higher than in March 2014.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During March 2015, short-term visitor arrivals (618,600 movements) increased 2.4% compared with February 2015 (603,800 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 2.0% in January 2015 and a monthly increase of 3.9% in February 2015.
  • Original estimates: There were 674,500 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in March 2015.


SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
  • Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during March 2015 (788,100 movements) increased 0.8% compared with February 2015 (781,900 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.9% in both January 2015 and February 2015. The current trend estimate for departures is 5.3% higher than in March 2014.
  • Seasonally adjusted estimates: During March 2015, short-term resident departures (795,900 movements) increased 2.4% compared with February 2015 (777,600 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.3% in January 2015 and 0.1% in February 2015.
  • Original estimates: There were 720,700 short-term resident departures from Australia in March 2015.
